Gulf Correctional Institution Inmate Mail

Inmates incarcerated in Florida are allowed to receive letters and photos which may not exceed 8"x10" (no polaroids, or nude photos).  Inmates may also receive the following through the mail:  Cards which are not layered and do not contain electronics, up to twenty stamps for mailing, and self addressed envelopes.  For more information on what an inmate can and cannot be mailed please read the departments mailing policy here.  Your complete name and address must be written legibly in the return address area of the envelope.  When sending correspondence always include the inmates name and Identification number as the mailing address above shows.  Do not mark the envelope or letter in any way.  No stamps, pens or pencils, small trinkets, or jewelry or other items should ever be mailed with the correspondence.  Staples, paperclips, lipstick, perfume, crayon art, stickers, drawings or markings of any kind will result in the correspondence being returned.  Inmates may also receive New paperback books, magazines, newspapers or other printed matter mailed directly from the following: (Be sure to include the inmate name and ID number and send to the inmate mailing address above).

Sending Money to an inmate in Florida

Family and friends of an inmate may send funds several ways.  The first way to send funds is by United States Postal Money order.  Money order should be payable to 'inmate trust fund' and include the name and ID number of the inmate in the memo field.  Money order must be accompanied by a special deposit slip which contains magnetic ink for automated centralized processing, this form is not available online for this reason.

If the inmate you are sending funds to is incarcerated in one of the following facilities you do not need the deposit form mentioned above and should send the funds directly to the inmate.

Family and friends of an inmate may also send money online using your bank account at westernunion.com. using the "Quick Collect Service" or JPay.  Visit their websites for more information and applicable fee's.

Visiting an Inmate at Gulf Correctional Institution

The Florida department of correction encourages friends and family members of inmates who serve as good roles models to communicate and visit with an inmate.  This can help the inmate in the rehabilitation process, and eventually with his or her reintegration back into society.  Below are some things you should know, and important forms you will need to fill out if you are planning on visiting an inmate incarcerated in a Florida penitentiary.

You must be on the inmate's approved visitation list prior to visiting.

Completed application (DC6-111A) should be mailed to the Classification Department at the inmate's current location.  In other words mail the completed inmate visiting application to the mailing address above.

Visiting Hours are as follows:
Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (8:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. Central Standard Time).
Registration begins at 8:15 a.m. (7:15 a.m. CST) on both days.
Visitors will not be processed after 2:00 p.m. (1:00 p.m. CST) unless authorized by the duty warden.
Visitors will be allowed to park in designated spaces no earlier than 7:30 a.m. EST and 6:30 a.m. CST on visiting days.
