Visiting an Inmate at Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility

The department of correction encourages family and friends who have positive influences and serve as good role models to communicate and visit with an inmate. This can help the inmate reintegrate with society when they are released.

The inmate must complete a Visitor List form (CAJ-334) identifying immediate family members (see below) and not more than 10 other visitors. Those persons the inmate has placed on his or her visiting list must complete a Michigan Inmate Visiting Application (CAJ-103 found here) to request approval to visit. The Visiting Application must be submitted in advance to allow for review of the Application. INCLUDING A SELF-ADDRESSED-STAMPED ENVELOPE WHEN THE APPLICATION IS RETURNED WILL ENSURE THAT THE PROPOSED VISITOR IS PROVIDED NOTIFICATION OF HIS/HER APPROVAL OR DENIAL TO VISIT.  NO VISITS WILL BE ALLOWED WITHOUT THIS APPROVAL.

Immediate Family Member is defined as a grandparent, parent, stepparent, spouse, mother-in-law, father-in-law, child, step-child, grandchild, sibling, half-sibling, stepbrother and stepsister. An aunt or uncle may be included if adequate verification is provided that they served as a surrogate parent.  The inmate or family member will be required to provide the neccessary documentation necessary to confirm the relationship.

How to do an inmate search in Michigan

Need to find an inmate identification number for an offender in Michigan? Do an inmate search to locate an inmate and access information relating to their conviction and release date.

Bible and Location

Good evening,

1-Are inmates allowed to recieve "Talking Bibles" - an electronic battery powered/wall jacked audio Bible. (I would take out the electrical cord). An inmate who has said he does not read well has requested one. I am part of my Church's jail ministry team and work alongside of Forgotten Man Ministries, have had the background checks, and regularly go into the Kent Co. Correctional Facility to do church services. I told the Talking Bibles  ministries that I would be willing to deliver one of the Bible to in the mate ([removed by admin]) requesting the Bible.

2-I was told the inmate was at Bellamy Correctional Fac. but according to the corrections inmate look-up, he is at Carson City. Is the online search up to date and my information incorrect?
Thank you for your help,

re: Bible and location

No electronic books, of any kind are allowed, including bibles.  I know that you can make a special request for obscure items/items of faith through the warden and it will be up to them, so the next step you may want to take is contacting the warden of the facility.  Also maybe there is some sort of alternative to an electronic bible?  I know inmates can buy radios and sometimes cd/tape/mp3 players, so maybe there is some sort of bible audio recording that would work on one of these devices if the inmate can obtain them?  Let us know how it works out.

As for the online search for your inmate, they can sometimes take a week or so to update the inmate's information, who was it who stated the inmate was at Bellamy Correctional?  Usually the inmate databases run by the correctional department are pretty accurate.

re:Visiting application status

You need to contact the inmate to get the status on your application, the facility tells him if a visitor was approved or denied and leave it up to him to inform you.  I do not have this information and the facility will not give this information out, send a letter to the inmate or ask him the next time he calls you.  Sorry
