Hutchins State Jail

Hutchins State Jail is a mixed custody facility located in Dallas Texas that houses both inmates awaiting trial and offenders who have been sentenced.  Custody levels at Hutchins State Jail range from J-1 (minimum jail level) to J-5 (maximum jail level) and also include G1, G2 (state prison minimum custody levels), and transient offenders.  The maximum capacity of Hutchins State Jail is 2,276 male inmates.  Offenders have access to medical/dental treatment and mental health services. Hutchins State Jail also provides inmates wih an onsite Substance Abuse Treatment program.  This facility also serves as a regional release site for offenders.

Inmates incarcerated at the Hutchins State Jail may participate in literacy courses designed to teach an inmate to read.  Additional educational opportunities for offenders include adult basic education and the ability to earn a GED.  Vocational programs are offered in computer aided drafting (CAD) and business computer information systems.  Other courses provided to inmates include life skills, employment skills, victim awareness, pre-release/re-entry planning, and cognitive intervention.  Some inmates can be selected to provide supervised labor for surrounding area food banks, for the Texas Department of Transportation, the Texas Division of Parks and Wildlife, and Habitat for Humanity.

Visiting Hours at Hutchins State Jail:

Inmates incarcerated at Hutchins State Jail are allowed visits on Saturdays and Sundays from 7am to 5pm.  First visits are non-contact visits and conducted behind a glass partition.  After 41 days offenders are allowed contact visits.
