Visiting an Inmate at Lakeview Shock Incarceration Correctional Facility

The New York department of correction encourages friends and family members of inmates who demonstrate a positive influence to communicate and visit with an inmate. This can help the inmate in the rehabilitation process, and eventually with his or her reintegration back into society.

Visiting days and times vary from facility to facility.  They are influenced by the security level and population concerns. At many facilities, you may only visit on certain days of the week, for example, by last name (A-L) (M-Z) or by the inmate’s DIN. As a general rule, maximum security facilities have visiting on a daily basis.
Medium and minimum security facilities have visiting on weekends and holidays.
Work Release facilities have visiting for inmates in restriction units only.
Shock Incarceration inmates have visiting every other weekend.

You should always contact the facility for the specific visiting schedule prior to visiting.

Generally visitation begins at 7:30 am and ends at 3:00 pm, but you will not be admitted to visitation if you arrive 2:30pm or later. Some may even include evening hours. Many visiting rooms become very crowded and often visitors are required to end visitation early as there are others waiting to get in.

Contact the facility prior to your initial visit to determine the visiting policy.

Visiting Hours are as follows:

contact

do male and female inmates get any kind of contact while in this facility? like do they get any alone time?

BPRichfield's picture

Contact between male and female inmates

No, contact between inmates of the opposite sex is prohibited.  They may cross paths from time to time, but being left alone together does not happen.  Sounds like you may be worried about your inmate being faithful.

dance

i was told by someone who was in this shock camp that she fell in love with a guy down there that she met and that they have dances where the inmates and talk and dance

packages

what can you send an inmate for christmas and how much can you send?

BPRichfield's picture

Lakeview shock holiday and quarterly packages

Shock facilities, to the best of my knowledge do not allow holiday or quarterly packages.  A vendor who serves NY State DOC is Access Securepak, and they do not service Lakeview.  You can view the access securepak site here.

second chance after quitting shock incarceration program?

hi, my bf was in monterey shock incarceration but dropped out due to a really painful knee. they did no allow him to see a doctor. i guess they thought he was lying. so after quitting they transfered him to wyoming correctional facility. but yesterday he received a paper saying that he was eligible to watch the video to go to shock. is this possible? did they made a mistake? should i be concern? i really want him to come back home asap!so it would be great if they give him a second chance.

Shock Facility?

What exactly is a shock facility?  My friend just got sent here and it sounds scary...they dont actually electrocute the inmates do they???  I am hoping shock means bootcamp like to restructure but I want to be sure.  Please anyone with info help me!!

BPRichfield's picture

No They do not shock them

No, they do not mean electrocute, it means shock in the way that a boot camp is run and meant to breakdown and then rebuild someone.
