Visitation between Christmas and New Years.

Hello,

I have filled out the "Visiting Privilege Application Form", and will be turning it in shortly.  I'm wondering if there is a means by which I can fax or email the form, rather than mail it.  (It would be a scanned copy which includes my signature.)

In any case, I wonder how long it takes to process the application; if approved, I'm hoping to pay a visit to a friend in during regular visiting hours between Christmas and New years, and am simply hoping I'm not turning it in too late.

Thanks for any information you can provide!

re: How long to process visitors application

Visiting applications can take anywhere from 2-7 weeks to process.  You must mail the form in, you cannot fax or e-mail it.  The processing time depends largely on what time of year it is, and this is the time of year when it takes the longest because everyone wants to visit during the holidays.  The reason it takes so long is because of the vast number of visitor applications and the fact that each one requires a background check by law enforcement.  The inmate will need to notify you if you have been approved or denied visitation privileges, so don't wait around to get a letter in the mail or anything, you need to ask the inmate either on the phone or through the mail.  Also if you do get approved expect the visitation rooms to be packed during Christmas/New Years week, and verify the hours with the institution before visiting, as the visiting hours often change.  And don't forget to let us know how your visit went and any other things that may be important to other people wanting to visit an inmate at this facility.
